EMP shelters- Fully protected NEMP & HEMP systems

We construct components for (temporary) EMP shelters and build complete EMP bunkers and mobile communication shelters (trailers) to protect military electronic equipment and vulnerable communication systems from the effects of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). Our EMI Shelters offer excellent protection against the potentially damaging effects of a High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulses (HEMP) and the harmful effects of electrical coupling that can be caused by Near Strike Lightning (NSL).

Also land based vehicles, NAVY vessels, rockets, fighters, drones and other avionic equipment can be shielded or hardened to fulfill the heaviest EMI- and EMP proof-tests.

Due to the extremely wide frequency range our systems and components perform in, we are capable of supplying any kind of HEMP and NEMP type of security shielding system. Our latest developments are a new range of Faraday cages offering not only EMI shielding but also protection against electromagnetic pulses (EMP).

Shielded shelter applications:

  • EMP Bunkers
  • Communication Shelters
  • Mobile EMI/RF shielding containers
  • Command centers
  • Anechoic Faraday cage for military product testing (e.g. missiles and satellite)
  • Eavesdropping

Customer Benefits:

  • Maximum protection
  • Can be constructed with local skilled people

Holland Shielding Systems has a state of the art design and manufacturing facility to produce integrated mobile shelters for defense, telecommunication and health applications, among others. Our engineers are capable of supplying any kind of HEMP, NEMP and LEMP type of security shielding system according to your specific requirements.

Fully protected mobile communication units, containers or mobile tents built completely to your requirements are also part of our expertise. Together with our engineering team we can set up a threat and risk analysis to determine the minimal and maximal shielding performance required for your specific needs.

Our integrated mobile shelters are rugged and easy for rapid movement by road, railway, sea and air ready for deployment and operation. These mobile shelters meet MIL standards and can be EMI shielded and NBC protected according to the customers specifications. In short we offer pre-insulated and prefabricated shelters to the Defense services for use as Expandable Mobile Shelters (EMS), EMI Shelters, Mobile Medical Units (MMU), Filed Office Shelters (FOS), Mobile Communication Systems (MCS), Telecom Shelters, Mobile Power Units (MPU) and Site Offices.

Shelters are assembled with sandwiched panels and sheets for floors, roofs and walls. These panels are assembled along with the accessories like profiles, angles and ISO corners. The sandwich panels embedded with grid structure are light in weight, yet very strong.

Tent Shelter Features:

  • Interior cover. Floor and doors are constructed from independently-tested RFI blocking material for a completely enclosed shield.
  • Higher than 50dB attenuation over a frequency range of 150MHz to 3.0GHz
  • Robust grounding system protects personnel from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrical System Faults.
  • High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) protection significantly reduces electromagnetic pulse effects to protect internal equipment.
  • Lightning Protection System (LPS) available to mitigate the risks of direct lightning strike to the shelter.
  • Operable in weather extremes from -60°C to 80°C
  • Each EMI Shelter can be integrated with a special Utility Support Transport (UST) Trailer to provide a seamless power and environmental control package.

An EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) is created as a byproduct of a nuclear explosion. A nuclear blast at high altitude produces a highly charged, rising electromagnetic field called a HEMP (High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse). The Electromagnetic pulse has a damaging effect on all electronic equipment. Because of the high altitude the area of coverage is enormous. Yet another threat comes from the so called E-Bombs. These weapons convert explosive energy into microwave energy and produce a ramping charge similar to the one produced by a nuclear explosion.

On a smaller scale but still destructive on a shorter range are High Energy Radio Frequency (HERF) weapons. These devices use a pulsed charge across a wide band of frequencies to disrupt electronics in the surrounding area.

Acoustic damping - Shock- noise- and vibration control

We produce mounts and transport cases for clients in the defense industries to guarantee noise, shock and vibration control solutions. Our production range is not limited to high-deflection shock mount, high-performance elastomeric anti-vibration mounts, wire rope cable mounts, shock mounting 19 in racks as well as consoles and Milex 19 in aluminum transport cases.

We also make constant position mountings for gyro compasses and other position related equipment.

US/UK naval mounts and Cavoflex cable mounts

Warship mounts and mounting solutions are a core part of our business. We are able to recommend, supply and support a full range of naval mounts. This includes US naval mounts produced by Oil States, US, along with Admiralty X mounts and the Y-mount produced by Stop-Choc.

Modelling of shock and vibration response (Mil-STD)

Shock and Vibration Technologies uses a range of modeling programs that can provide reports for the natural frequency of a mounted system. Reports can be generated for linear and non-linear shock response to any naval shock input, as well as responses for container flat/edge/corner drops and rail shunt through the MIL-STD-810. SVT has the ability to generate computer models to simulate the following MIL standards:

  • MIL-STD-901D / E medium hammer
  • MIL-STD-901D /E lightweight hammer
  • MIL-STD-901 Basin Test
  • MIL-STD-810D /E /F, MIL-STD-07/55
  • MIL-STD-167
  • Admiralty rack shock machine
  • BV 043 Area I, II, III
  • BV 044
  • DEF STAN 0035
  • DOD standards
  • Any real-time input
  • Any half-sine input
  • Any random vibration environment

Cable mounts

Cable mounts are widely used on warships, as they can be utilized for a range of high-deflection shock solutions. For ships that contain a myriad of expensive or crucial equipment that needs to be restrained, the Isolation Dynamic Corporation (IDC) mounts can protect equipment ranging in weight from a few hundred grams to thousands of kilograms. The mounts come in an extensive range of both metric and imperial configurations, ranging from the M2 (1/16in wire) series through to the M40 (2in wire) series. The unique design of the SM series is ideal for small packages providing a more uniform stiffness rate than traditional cable mounts.

For external and deck mounting, we offer a full range of mounts that are highly resistant against corrosive environments and salt immersion. Our selection of 316 stainless-steel cable mounts are highly resilient against aquatic corrosion, making them a good choice for areas of a ship that face the continual threat of aquatic corrosion.

Shock and Vibration Technologies can provide full support for multiple applications and can provide assistance in selecting datacenter protection against steeling and destroying digital information.
