Mu-Copper foil Wall Covering System

Holland Shielding Systems B.V. has developped Mu-copper™ foil.  Mu-Copper™ foil has very high attenuation levels both with respect to electrical field (up to 120dB) and magnetic field (see table below). It can be installed very easily, like wallpaper, with a special adhesive onto walls, ceilings and floors.

Shielding performance Mu-copper cage

This system makes it possible to create a Faraday Cage with high shielding performance yourself in an economic way.

Depending on the quality of the EMI/RFI shielding doors, shielded ventilation panels, EMI/RFI powerline filters and shielded windows it is possible to realise an high attenuation level up to 60-80 dB in the E-field in an existing room without loss of space in just a few days.

Detachable ceiling 

A lowered detachable ceiling to seperate existing ducts, lines, pipes, wires and cables from the faraday cage. Ideal if periodic maintenance on installations above the ceiling is required. Shielded ventilation i.e. honeycomb vents can be mounted in the ceiling.

Copper foil standards 

The standard mu-copper foil width is 1000 mm and the mu-copper foil can be delivered on rolls of 100 meter or prefabricated sheets. You can use a 50 mm overlap, seaming tape or copper tape with a conductive self-adhesive to link the mu-copper foil parts. Please see the above drawing for more specifications. Soldering will result in the best performance.

Soldered joints and corners

On the picture on the left you can see how the copper foil is soldered in the corners and how the overlaps are linked by soldering it. This is a very important component of the process, when parts are not well soldered the attenuation level of the cage will decrease radically. We advise to let the soldering work perform by experienced people.
